I've got a Sony A6700 and the video files are huge. I don't understand how to do editing without everything slowing down. Do I need to make proxies or is there another solution? My computer has an RTX 4060 so it's not great.
It's normal that the Sony 4K eats up so much space, you're easily looking at 100-150 GB for a day of shooting 😅 Proxies are really your best friend for editing without lag, create some 1080p or even 720p files to work smoothly and keep your 4K just for the final export, the RTX 4060 will really thank you for it!
That's normal, the 4K from the A6700 is serious stuff and it eats up a ton of space. Proxies are honestly your best friend, I do that all the time in my projects and it changes everything for editing smoothness - you work on 1080p or even 720p while you're editing and render in 4K at the end. Otherwise you should also check your codec: if you're shooting in H.265 it's more compressed than H.264, that can help you out a bit. With your RTX 4060 you're really gonna feel the difference with proxies, without them you're just gonna spend your time waiting for previews.

Otherwise you can also compress your Sony files in H.265 instead of H.264 it cuts the size in half basically without losing quality, but it's heavier to decode so proxies is way simpler honestly. Even big YouTubers do it so you're not alone struggling with this 🎬
