Why are there more and more wild boars on the outskirts of Madrid?

I've been seeing wild boars hanging around the industrial park where I live for a few months now, near the M-40. It used to be really rare to spot them, and now they seem to be showing up more and more. Is it normal for them to get this close to cities, or are they expanding into more territory?

The expansion of wild boars around Madrid is real and has to do with the fact that they find easy food in the outskirts - garbage, gardens, construction debris - and there are fewer natural predators to control them. It's a pattern that repeats in many European cities: when urban sprawl reaches areas where they lived, they simply adapt and stick around because it's more comfortable than heading into the mountains looking for food.
