Xbox Series S still worth it in 2026 or should I get Series X?

I'm looking to finally upgrade from my old Xbox One and trying to figure out which console to commit to. The Series S is way cheaper but I'm worried about it struggling with newer games coming out this year and beyond. I mainly play stuff like Starfield and Forza, plus some Game Pass titles. Should I stretch the budget for the Series X or will the S hold up fine?

The Series S will definitely handle Starfield and Forza just fine - both run great on it, though you might need to tweak some graphics settings if you want max performance 🎮 If you're mainly sticking with Game Pass and those kinds of games, the S is honestly still solid in 2026, but if you think you'll want to push newer AAA titles at higher settings or 4K over the next few years, the Series X gives you way more breathing room and longevity. The price gap is real, so it really comes down to whether you'd rather save money now or avoid any regret later when games get more demanding.

The Series S will still handle those games fine, but you're right to think ahead - newer titles are pushing harder on storage and frame rates, and the S's smaller SSD starts feeling cramped once you've got a few big games installed. If you can stretch for the X without breaking the bank, do it, because you'll get a solid 4-6 more years of comfortable 1440p or 4K performance rather than bumping settings down or uninstalling things constantly. That said, if the budget difference is really painful, the S won't leave you hanging anytime soon, just with more compromises down the line.
