Really depends on how much risk you're willing to take. With Kickstarter you often pay upfront and get the product later, and some projects fail or don't turn out as good as promised - that's just part of the deal. But if you already know the designer or studio and liked their previous games, the chances are way better that you won't be disappointed. My tip: check out the comments and creator responses on the project page - you can usually tell pretty quick whether someone's actually staying on top of things or just talking a big game.

The question is kind of tough to answer because "new Kickstarter board games" are really a mixed bag - some are absolute gems, others not so much 🎲 What I've noticed: With established publishers on Kickstarter, you're more likely to get something solid than with first-time efforts from unknown teams. Definitely check out the reviews and comments, try out the rules beforehand if you can, and see if the creator has actually delivered on stuff before. Some of the best games really have come through Kickstarter, but you just need to do a bit of research to avoid getting burned.
