Constant notifications can definitely trigger real anxiety. Your brain gets trained to expect interruptions, so you end up in this state of always waiting for the next ping - that's genuinely stressful for your nervous system. A lot of people find their anxiety drops noticeably once they turn off notifications or batch-check their apps instead of letting them interrupt constantly.

The physical side of it is real too - constant pinging keeps your cortisol elevated, same way a plant stressed by constant disturbances won't grow well no matter how much you water it. Your nervous system stays in that low-level alert mode, and after a while you're genuinely jumpy even when your phone's silent. Turning off notifications for a few days usually shows people pretty quickly whether it's actually affecting them.
