Don't wait to see if it gets better on its own, because with African grey parrots health problems can progress quickly and silently. The thing is, if it's quieter than normal, that's already a signal to go to an avian veterinarian, especially if you also notice it's eating less, has ruffled feathers, is breathing strangely, or there are changes in its droppings. Temporary "bad mood" is one thing, but extreme quietness combined with changes in behavior or physical appearance almost always indicates that something's wrong.
