I came out of a 5-year relationship 3 months ago and just met someone I really like. My best friend thinks I should take a break first and find myself again. But I actually feel ready. Is there a rule of thumb for this or is it completely individual?

there's no magic timeframe, some people need two weeks, others two years. if you feel ready and you're not just trying to fill the loneliness, then there's nothing wrong with it. your friend means well, but only you know yourself best - trust your gut feeling instead of rules.
