You've got a few options: you can go to Settings > System > Windows Update and click "Schedule the install" to pick the times you want it to happen.

Or if you really want to disable them (fair warning, it's not recommended), you can go through Windows Services by typing "services.msc" and disable "Windows Update", but honestly I'd suggest using the "Pause updates" option for a few weeks if you just need a break.

There's also tools like O&O ShutUp++ that give you more control, but it's pretty much a risky workaround.

I had the same problem and honestly it's so annoying! One thing that doesn't get mentioned often is that you can modify the group policy by typing `gpedit.msc` into Windows search, then go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update and there you can actually control when and how updates happen - like you can set specific days and times when your PC is allowed to restart.

If you want something simpler and less technical, you can also switch to a metered connection (Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi, then "Properties" of the network and turn on "Metered") and that'll slow down the automatic downloads, which gives you more time before it forces a restart!
