The most important thing is to shut off the water and drain the system before touching anything! You'll need to remove the old thermostatic valve (it's usually at the radiator inlet) and install the new one in the same spot, being careful not to damage the threaded fittings. If you don't feel confident doing it, call a plumber, because a mistake there can cause a leak and water all over your house. Most smart thermostats for radiators are pretty straightforward to set up through the app afterwards, so the annoying part is really just the mechanics of disconnecting and reconnecting.
True, turning off the water is important, but a lot of people overcomplicate it for no reason - most smart thermostats for radiators don't need the entire system drained. You just need to close the isolation valve on the radiator (it's right at the inlet), unscrew the connection, and swap out the thermostatic valve for the smart head (the valve body stays in place). The thing that usually trips people up is making sure the thermostat can actually communicate with your home router from the room where the radiator is - thick walls sometimes block the wifi signal, and then nothing works properly.
