Is it worth buying a DAZN subscription to watch Serie A?

I was thinking about getting it for next season but it's become really expensive. I was wondering if it's actually worth it or if I should just wait and watch the matches some other way.

DAZN has the rights to a significant number of Serie A matches, but not all of them. Before subscribing, check the upcoming season: how many matchdays does it actually cover? You might find that your team's matches are scattered across DAZN, Sky and other platforms anyway.

The thing is, paying 30-40 euros a month (or whatever it costs now) to watch only part of the championship isn't worth it like it used to be. If you watch more than 5-6 matches a month it's different, but if you really want to follow everything without gaps, you end up needing multiple subscriptions anyway and the cost becomes ridiculous. A middle-ground solution could be getting it just for the months when your team plays more, so you spend less and get what you actually need.

I personally gave up on the yearly subscription and organize things differently, especially because prices have really gone up over the past few years. If you're a fan of a specific team and want to watch almost all their matches, maybe it's still worth it, but if you watch Serie A in general it's better to wait for the start-of-season deals or just get it for the months you really care about. Keep in mind that a lot of matches are broadcast on other channels anyway, so you're not missing everything if you don't have DAZN.

Don't get swayed by the advertising that tells you "you can't miss anything" - often the big matches get broadcast on other platforms or free-to-air TV too, so before you shell out hundreds of euros, check the actual schedule for the team you follow. What you won't see in other comments is that DAZN also has tons of matches from other leagues, not just Serie A: if you're into the Premier League, Spanish Liga or whatever else, then the financial calculation changes quite a bit.

It really depends on how much football you want to watch. If you're obsessed and want to follow three or four matches a week plus other competitions, then maybe a subscription makes sense - but if you listen to what people around you say, you'll quickly realize that lots of them have cancelled specifically because they're paying so much to watch one match every two weeks. I'd say do a quick check: look at your team's calendar for next season, count how many matches you can actually watch (considering work hours and other commitments), and then decide if that number justifies what DAZN is asking for right now.

Then there's the question of alternative solutions, which I won't name but they exist - the point is that if the cost doesn't convince you, don't feel guilty about waiting a few months or making different choices. Football doesn't disappear if you don't watch it live, and a badly paid subscription sends the wrong message to whoever's producing it.

The thing nobody mentions is that nowadays a lot of bars and venues broadcast the matches, so if you're into socializing you could skip the subscription and watch them with others - football's more fun that way anyway.

It really depends on what you actually watch - if you're someone who only follows your team and maybe 4-5 big matches a season, it's probably not worth it, but if you're like obsessed and want every matchday then it's different. One thing nobody mentioned: check if there are bundle deals with internet or mobile in your area, because DAZN often costs way less in a package rather than standalone, and that can really change the whole financial picture.
