Is Spotify HiFi finally available or still not?

I've been a Premium subscriber for years and I've been waiting forever for HiFi quality. You read everywhere that it's supposed to be coming, but I don't see anything in my account. Is it actually available now or is this just another empty promise from Spotify?

the others are right, but I'd say: Spotify just gave up on the feature internally. they announced it in 2021, then 2022, then 2023 - at some point it just wasn't strategically interesting for them anymore. the thing is, most users are probably fine with regular quality anyway, and the hardware costs for something like that are a different ballgame for streaming services than they are for Apple or Amazon.

Ugh, that's really frustrating, I get it! Spotify HiFi still hasn't actually become available to the general public - there are only some tests in certain markets and that's it. After all these years since the announcement, honestly it feels like a broken promise, and lots of Premium users like you are waiting for it in vain! If lossless audio is really important to you, maybe you should check out Apple Music or Tidal instead, you can get that as standard there already.

And you're not alone with that. Spotify HiFi was announced in 2021 and to this day it's never actually launched - not even by 2026. There were a few limited tests in individual countries, but for most of us it remains a promise on paper. I check my account regularly and it's just never there. Spotify seems to have dropped the topic somehow, without saying anything about it.

The most frustrating thing is that as a paying customer you're just left in the dark. A practical alternative that I use myself: If you're willing to upgrade your setup, you can connect Spotify via desktop with external audio apps like Euphonic or similar tools - that already gets more out of the bitrate. Or honestly, if audio quality really matters to you, it might be worth switching to Tidal HiFi or Apple Music Lossless. I know that's not the answer you want to hear, but Spotify doesn't seem to want to make this move.
