If you want portability and long battery life, the JBL Flip 7 is more compact and convenient to carry around everywhere, while the Anker is more powerful if you're looking for really deep sound and solid bass at home or in a small group.

Personally, I'd avoid choosing based on raw power alone, that's a trap. I've tested both for real and they're completely different philosophies. The JBL is honestly just something you throw in your backpack without thinking about it, super lightweight. The Anker is more like "I want a proper portable speaker" rather than "I want something discreet".

What struck me with the Flip 7 is that despite the compact size, the sound is balanced - no that heavy bass that drowns everything out just to show off. The battery easily lasts a full day. But if you put it next to the Anker, yeah it seems less impressive on first listen, but it's really about how you'll use it. Need to haul it everywhere on hikes? JBL. Want to stick it in a corner of your apartment and leave it there? Anker wins.

The real thing to consider is where you're actually going to use it 80% of the time. I realized I'd ordered something way too big for my actual needs, and now I'm stuck with gear I don't use. So before you buy, try it in a store if you can, or at least watch side-by-side videos to see if the size bothers you.

The Anker holds up better against moisture if you're planning to take it near a pool or on hikes near a stream - the JBL is IPX7 but honestly less durable over time with water. Also, something people tend to forget: the JBL charges fast (like 2h30) while the Anker takes longer, so if you're the type to forget to charge it the night before that makes a pretty big difference in real life.

What nobody really mentioned is the cost over time 😅 The JBL Flip 7 is cool but its battery doesn't hold up as well over the years, so if you keep it for a few years you'll end up charging it like crazy. The Anker isn't as visually appealing but it ages better when it comes to battery life. Anyway, it all depends on whether you switch out your devices often or not!
