Why did the folkloric reggaeton dance go viral?

I saw recently on TikTok that several creators are mixing traditional steps from Latin American dances with reggaeton. My grandmother told me that's disrespectful, but honestly the videos get millions of views. Does this count as modern folklore or is it just a passing trend?
