I bought a Samsung Side-by-Side a month ago, and it's started making this weird high-pitched sound and humming so loud you can hear it from the next room. It used to be quiet. Is this a malfunction or did I just get used to it and it's always been like that?
Check if dust has built up on the condenser at the back of the fridge - that's often what causes extra noise and squeaking, and cleaning usually fixes it in a couple of minutes.
But clarify one more thing: is the squeaking a high-pitched sound or is it the compressor running more often and humming louder? And was it definitely quieter a month ago, or have you maybe just gotten used to the noise? If it's actually squeaking, there could be issues with the fan or electronics, and you should probably call Samsung service - your warranty's still active anyway.
