How do I fix my router's 2.4GHz band not showing up?

My ASUS RT-AX88U has been acting weird lately. The 5GHz band works fine but the 2.4GHz network just disappeared from available networks. I've tried restarting the router and checking the settings, but I can't figure out why it's not broadcasting anymore. Any ideas what could cause this?

When you checked the settings, did you actually look at the wireless settings page itself, or just the main dashboard? The 2.4GHz band can be disabled independently from 5GHz in the ASUS interface - go into your router's admin panel and navigate to Wireless > General, then make sure the "Enable Wireless" option is turned on for the 2.4GHz band specifically (it's separate from the 5GHz toggle). Also check if there's a physical WiFi button on your router or a keyboard shortcut that might've accidentally turned it off! If the settings show it's enabled but it's still not broadcasting, try doing a full factory reset rather than just a restart - sometimes the config file gets corrupted and a soft reboot won't fix it, but a full reset usually does the trick.

The wireless settings page is where you need to look - log into the admin panel and navigate to the wireless section to make sure the 2.4GHz band isn't just toggled off there, since it can be disabled separately from 5GHz on that router. One thing people miss is checking if there's a hardware switch or button on the router itself that might have gotten flipped, disabling just that band.

Did you check if the 2.4GHz band got disabled in the advanced wireless settings, not just the main page? The guys above are spot on about the settings menu - you'll find a toggle for the 2.4GHz band specifically under wireless settings that can get switched off without affecting 5GHz! But here's something that sometimes works: try factory resetting just the wireless configuration without a full factory reset. On ASUS routers you can often do this by going to Administration > Restore and selecting "Restore wireless settings only" - this clears any weird config glitches that might've disabled the band without nuking your whole setup!
