I recently finished a data analytics course on Coursera and paid for the certificate. Now I'm putting together my CV but I'm not sure if it's worth including or if recruiters in Latin America actually value it. I've seen people with free certificates from local platforms who still land jobs.
Put it on your CV, but not as the main thing, you know? Coursera has a good reputation in Latin America, especially if the course is from a well-known university or companies like Google or IBM. What really matters is that in the interview you can actually talk about what you learned and show projects or cases where you applied that data analysis stuff, because that's where recruiters see if you actually know your stuff or just have a piece of paper. The certificate opens the door, but you're the one who walks through it!
Coursera definitely has weight, especially if the course comes from a recognized university or from Google, IBM, Meta. The thing is, a lot of recruiters in Latam still value practical experience more than the paper itself, so the certificate works better as support than as the cornerstone of your CV. What matters is that you show you actually applied what you learned: include concrete projects, analyses you've done, tangible things that prove you didn't just take the course. If you can link to a portfolio or a repository with your work, that carries more weight than the certificate alone.
