I've dealt with this at home before and it's usually one of a few fixable things. First check your air filter - a clogged one tanks efficiency fast, so swap it out if it looks dirty. Also make sure all your vents and return air grilles aren't blocked by furniture or curtains, and check if your thermostat is set to the right mode (should be on "cool" not "fan only"). If those don't help and it's still running constantly without cooling, you've probably got a refrigerant leak or a compressor issue, which means calling a technician since you can't DIY that safely.
